Battle combines karaoke-style tracks and friendly competition to put fun center stage

KaraFun (karafun.com), the world’s favorite karaoke platform and channel, has found a new way to make singing even more fun: KaraFun Battle. Pop-punk powerhouses Lit will help introduce the game to the world as musical ambassadors.

Music Meets Gaming

KaraFun Battle combines the best of music and gaming, two flavors of fun that are increasingly mixing. It brings together the vibe of a multiplayer game with the self-expressive joy of singing your favorite hits. This combo is shaking up how people party in an era when audiences want more meaningful and creative ways to connect — whether with work buddies, besties, or the whole family. Experiences like KaraFun Battle make this connection naturally.

“We love how karaoke, music, and singing can bring people together. We’ve spent 20 years building one of the largest and most carefully curated catalogs, and that expertise became the backbone of KaraFun Battle,” explains Elodie Abécassis, CMO of KaraFun. “For KaraFun Battle, we focused on making the gameplay feel fun and rewarding. The challenge was finding the right balance between accessibility and depth — a game anyone can jump into, but that keeps you wanting one more round.”

How It Works

KaraFun Battle playfully pits up to 20 singers in a match to see whose singing will edge ahead according to a multifaceted scoring system. KJs using the professional KaraFun version can allow up to 1,000 players for the same song. It puts an end to the line for the mic, letting everyone sing their heart out together, all at once. Singers can follow the ever-shifting leaderboard until one vocalist pops out on top at the end of the track, leaving everyone psyched for the next song.

Lit Joins the Fun

Even the band behind karaoke staple “My Own Worst Enemy” — Lit — has discovered how ridiculously fun it can be to sing together. Lit will be giving fans and karaoke lovers a peek into their KaraFun Battles in an upcoming video when band members square off against each other. (Will singer A. Jay come out on top?)

Easy to Set Up and Play

You don’t have to be a rockstar to start your own round. KaraFun Battle is easy to set up and play. With a single login, players can decide to use the app on their phone, tablet, desktop, or TV, or the web version. Players use their smartphone to unlock a round — no downloads or special equipment required.

They then sing into their phone and watch the game unfurl. The game scores your voice, evaluates singing performance, and offers encouragement for players to belt and croon their best version of one of thousands of popular hits. There’s more than one way to win, and the game encourages shared moments and laughs. Though one vocalist emerges victorious, everyone has a blast.

Expanding the Karaoke Experience

KaraFun Battle is the latest addition to KaraFun’s growing music-based games and entertainment offerings. In addition to classic karaoke on any device, KaraFun offers quizzes, music trivia, and other fun features that truly expand the karaoke experience. Now with KaraFun Battle, singing along with favorite hits can bring people together in a whole new way.

“As tech increasingly shapes entertainment, we wanted to use tech to create real human connections and moments that stick,” Abécassis says. “KaraFun Battle came from that desire: using our technology to do more than get people to sing, but to get them to laugh and share memorable times.”
