At just 26 years old, Icelandic-Chinese multi-instrumentalist and composer Laufey has cemented her status as a defining voice in contemporary music, winning the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for her 2025 release A Matter of Time at the 68th Grammy Awards. This marks her second consecutive win in the category—following her 2024 victory for Bewitched—solidifying her record as the youngest artist ever to claim the honor twice.

“To be recognized like this for an album that truly feels like the most honest, unfiltered version of my artistry so far… it’s overwhelming in the best way,” Laufey shared backstage, clutching her Grammy in a gown that blended classic Hollywood elegance with subtle Nordic-inspired embroidery.

The win caps a monumental year for the genre-blurring artist, whose A Matter of Time debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Jazz Albums chart, where it has remained a mainstay in the Top 10 for six months. Produced alongside longtime collaborator Spencer Stewart and new creative partner Aaron Dessner—known for his work with Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran—the album finds Laufey embracing a more expansive, emotionally layered sound while maintaining the orchestral intimacy and jazz-inflected storytelling that have become her signature.

Her creative momentum shows no signs of slowing. Laufey’s sold-out U.K. and European tour kicks off later this month, followed by a highly anticipated return to the U.S. for Coachella in April. Beyond music, she will also release her first children’s book, Mei Mei The Bunny, on April 21 through Penguin Random House—a tender, illustrated ode to identity and belonging, themes that echo throughout her songwriting.

With two Grammys before the age of 30, a chart-topping album, and a rapidly expanding artistic portfolio, Laufey isn’t just winning awards—she’s building a legacy that bridges generations, genres, and cultures, one timeless melody at a time.
