The stage is set for a magical and mischievous twist of fate as Netflix announces the highly anticipated series Genie, Make a Wish, premiering globally on October 3rd. This enchanting new romantic comedy comes from the celebrated pen of writer Kim Eun-sook, the visionary behind the global phenomenon The Glory, and promises to deliver a captivating blend of destiny, desire, and love with a uniquely darkly comedic edge.

The series tells the fantastical story of Jinn, a genie portrayed by the charismatic Kim Woo-bin (Officer Black Belt, Black Knight), who awakens from a deep slumber after a thousand years with his career on hold, only to encounter his new, utterly impassive master, Ka-young, played by the multifaceted Suzy (Doona!, Start-up). This is not the kind genie of familiar lore; Kim Woo-bin’s Jinn is a Satanic figure who specializes in tempting and corrupting humans by granting three wishes, yet he is also an eccentric and naively outdated character bewildered by the modern world he has been thrust into after his millennium-long absence.

Suzy’s Ka-young is the emotionless, routine-driven owner of the genie’s lamp, a beautiful and extraordinary woman who possesses wealth, education, and beauty but goes through the motions of life strictly by her grandmother’s rules and her own rigid patterns, described as a psychopath raised with hope by her entire village. Their central conflict over the three wishes sets the stage for the series’ core romantic comedy, exploring the chaotic and unpredictable results when an ancient force of corruption meets a master of impassive control.

They are joined by a stellar supporting cast including Ahn Eun-jin (Goodbye Earth) as the mysterious Mi-joo, Noh Steve Sang-hyun (Pachinko) as Soo-hyun, Genie’s brother and rival, Ko Kyu-phil (The Fiery Priest) as Sayyid, Genie’s assistant who is secretly a black jaguar, and Lee Zoo-young (The 8 Show) as Min-ji, Ka-young’s only friend.

Genie, Make a Wish is coming to captivate audiences on October 3rd, only on Netflix, inviting viewers to step into a world where every wish has a devilish price.
