The latest season of South Park continues its scorched-earth political satire with a newly surfaced Paramount+ post-credits scene that takes aim at U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem—specifically targeting the controversy surrounding her admission to shooting her dog, Cricket. Shared on the show’s official X account, the brief but brutal animation depicts Noem storming into a pet store and opening fire on puppies, with one escaping only to be gunned down in cold blood.
The scene follows Noem’s central role in the August 6 episode, where she was portrayed as the puppy-killing leader of ICE, her face grotesquely melting due to botched plastic surgery. The episode also featured her raiding a Dora the Explorer Live! production—a nod to the administration’s immigration crackdowns—but the post-credits sequence dials up the dark humor to another level.
Noem, who has repeatedly faced backlash since revealing in her memoir that she killed her 14-month-old dog for being “untrainable,” dismissed the South Park parody during an appearance on Glenn Beck’s radio show. Calling the depiction “so lazy” and “petty,” she accused the show of resorting to cheap shots rather than substantive criticism. “It’s always the liberals and the extremists who do that,” she said, claiming she hadn’t watched the episode because she was “going over budget numbers and stuff.”
The jab is just one of many politically charged moments in South Park’s 27th season, which has already drawn reactions from the highest levels of government. The season premiere, which depicted Donald Trump begging Satan for sex, prompted an official White House response dismissing the show as “uninspired” and “desperate for attention.”
Given South Park’s famously rapid production cycle—allowing for week-to-week topical humor—it’s possible the pet store scene was added too late for the Comedy Central broadcast but included in the streaming release. Either way, the moment reinforces the show’s reputation for gleefully crossing lines, ensuring that even as politicians try to shrug it off, South Park remains a cultural lightning rod.
