Rising Boston-based singer-songwriter Emma Harner has revealed her debut EP, Taking My Side, set for release on July 11. The 5-track project—featuring breakout singles “False Alarm” and “Do It” alongside three new compositions—serves as a raw coming-of-age diary of resilience. Harner’s intricate math-rock infused folk arrangements and ethereal vocals dissect emotional upheaval, identity shifts, and the quiet strength of self-advocacy.
Harner, a Lincoln, Nebraska native, first captivated audiences through viral Instagram/TikTok guitar showcases, building a devoted following drawn to her virtuosic fingerstyle technique and harmonic sophistication. Her sharp, vulnerable songwriting—previously spotlighted in Zane Lowe’s World First premiere for debut single “When You Mean It”—reaches new depth here.
2024-2025 saw Harner cement her live prowess, supporting Orla Gartland on U.S. and European tours and opening for mxmtoon, Tiny Habits, and The Bygones. Taking My Side marks her evolution from social media sensation to a genre-blurring storyteller, bridging technical mastery with intimate reflection.
