Leo Woodall is set to star opposite Rachel Weisz in the upcoming Netflix limited series “Vladimir,” Variety has learned.
The project, originally announced in March with an eight-episode order, is based on Julia May Jonas’ novel of the same name. Woodall will take on the titular role of Vladimir. The official logline sets the stage for a provocative drama: “As a woman’s (Weisz) life unravels, she becomes obsessed with her captivating new colleague (Woodall). Full of sexy secrets, dark humor and complex characters, ‘Vladimir’ is about what happens when a woman goes hell-bent to turn her fantasies into reality.”
This marks Woodall’s second starring role in a Netflix limited series adaptation, following his critically acclaimed performance as Dexter opposite Ambika Mod in the 2024 hit “One Day”. The actor gained significant recognition for his role in Season 2 of HBO’s “The White Lotus”. His additional television credits include Apple TV+’s “Prime Target” and Peacock’s “Vampire Academy”, with film roles in “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” and “Cherry”.
Jonas is adapting her own novel for the screen and serves as an executive producer. Weisz also executive produces alongside her starring role. The producing team includes Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg, and Kira Carstensen via Merman, Jason Winer & Jon Radler of Small Dog Picture Company, and Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. 20th Television is the studio behind the series.
Woodall is represented by WME, Hamilton Hodell, Anonymous Content, and Goodman Genow.
