Independent publisher Bookshelf PH, dedicated to enriching Filipino literature and empowering voices nationwide, officially launched its latest anthology Sari-sari Stories: Book of Pride at the SM Podium Book Nook on June 11, 2025. Released in honor of Pride Month, this significant collection continues the publisher’s core mission to amplify diverse narratives and foster nation-building through accessible storytelling.
Featuring eight original works by emerging Filipino writers, the anthology explores themes of LGBTQIA+ love, identity, and courage across multiple genres—from poignant dramas to suspenseful mysteries. Each story highlights intimate journeys of self-discovery while collectively advocating for equality and acceptance within Philippine society. Lucky Charles N. Historia, Shanelle B. Recheta, Kae Espejo, JsslAwra, Evan Orias, Zerodegreescelsius, Dhan Duringo, and Jastine Beatrice Yap contribute their unique perspectives to this vibrant tapestry of queer experiences.
During the emotional launch event, authors reflected on their inspirations, emphasizing that while centering queer narratives, the collection universally resonates with anyone who has struggled for visibility and authentic belonging. “This book is a testament to our commitment at Bookshelf PH to tell diverse stories that not only educate but deeply connect,” stated Managing Editor Michelle Dulinayan. Her sentiment echoes the organization’s foundational belief that reading—whether physical books, ebooks, or audiobooks—drives personal and societal growth.
Book of Pride marks the third installment in Bookshelf PH’s acclaimed Sari-sari Stories Collection, a cultural compendium exclusively curated through Filipino authors’ lenses. Managing Partner Monette Quioge framed the release as “a warm embrace for hidden stories,” adding: “We champion the light within every individual, which aligns with our vision to democratize publishing through self-publishing services, creative workshops like The Write Side of Bookshelf, and dynamic book trailers—all designed to help authors share transformative ideas.”
True to its goal of nurturing a vibrant literary ecosystem, Bookshelf PH makes the anthology widely accessible. Sari-sari Stories: Book of Pride is now available on their website (bookshelf.com.ph) and major e-commerce platforms, inviting collaboration with readers, writers, and partners invested in a more inclusive Philippine literary landscape.
