Fukuoka-based alt-rock band muque has released their highly anticipated new EP titled “DOPE!” on June 11, delivering five tracks of raw energy and genre-defying creativity. The release solidifies the four-piece band’s growing reputation as one of Japan’s most exciting and innovative indie rock acts.

The EP kicks off with “The 1,” an adrenaline-fueled track currently serving as the ending theme for the popular anime ONE PIECE. Other standout tracks include the deep-groove intensity of focus track “Ghost” and the guitar-driven frenzy of “cheers,” each showcasing muque’s signature blend of indie rock and pop with their own unique twist.

For dedicated fans, the First Press Limited Edition offers a special bonus – a complete live recording from their tour finale at Tokyo’s renowned EBISU LIQUIDROOM, captured during their first headline tour “Dungeon” in January. This addition perfectly captures the band’s electrifying stage presence and unfiltered performance energy.

Formed in May 2022, muque consists of Asakura (vocals and guitar), Lenon (bass), takachi (trackmaker and drums), and Kenichi (guitar). The band’s name creatively combines the French word “musique” with the Japanese word “muku” (meaning innocence), reflecting their philosophy of creating pure, unadulterated music free from external influences.

Drawing inspiration from global sounds while maintaining a distinctly Japanese rock edge, muque has quickly developed a reputation for their authentic, emotionally powerful performances and recordings. With “DOPE!”, the band demonstrates they’re not content to follow trends – they’re determined to set their own.

The “DOPE!” EP is now available across all major streaming platforms, offering listeners an exciting glimpse into the future of Japanese alternative rock.
