Japanese supergroup BE:FIRST has unleashed their powerful new single “GRIT,” a high-energy tribute to early 2000s hip-hop reimagined through a contemporary lens. Released worldwide on May 28, the track showcases the seven-member group’s signature intensity as they continue their ascent as global music trendsetters.

“GRIT” delivers aggressive beats, unapologetic lyrics, and undeniable swagger, proving BE:FIRST’s ability to craft music that pushes boundaries. The track was co-written by an impressive international lineup including SKY-HI, Kavi (known for collaborations with Tommy Richman and KenCarson), and Grammy-nominated artist Colby O’Donis (Usher, Lady Gaga).

The accompanying music video blends global hip-hop aesthetics with distinctly Japanese visual flair, allowing each member – SOTA, SHUNTO, MANATO, RYUHEI, JUNON, RYOKI, and LEO – to showcase their individual charisma while demonstrating the group’s cohesive power.

This release comes as BE:FIRST makes history with their first world tour, “Who is BE:FIRST?”, which kicked off in Los Angeles on April 22 and includes 12 performances across 9 countries. The single package also features two additional tracks: “Muchu夢中,” the theme song for Fuji TV’s drama “Nami Uraraka ni, Meoto Biyori,” and RYUHEI’s solo track “Loop,” part of the group’s ongoing member showcase series.

Formed through the 2021 reality show “THE FIRST” under producer SKY-HI, BE:FIRST has quickly risen to prominence with their innovative blend of dance, pop, hip-hop and R&B. Their debut single “Gifted.” made waves as the most-discussed song on Twitter and topped Japan’s Billboard charts, establishing them as one of the country’s most exciting new acts.

With “GRIT,” BE:FIRST continues to redefine J-pop’s global potential, merging nostalgic hip-hop influences with cutting-edge production and undeniable star power. The single is now available on all major streaming platforms.
