Mia Goth, known for her captivating performances in films like “Pearl,” is officially joining the highly anticipated “Star Wars: Starfighter” project. She’ll star alongside Ryan Gosling in the Shawn Levy-directed film, with specifics of her character currently remaining under wraps.

Production for the new “Star Wars” adventure is slated to begin this fall, with Disney targeting a theatrical release date of May 28, 2027. The news of “Starfighter” was first formally announced by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni at the annual Star Wars Celebration event held in Tokyo this past April.

This standalone film promises to introduce fresh faces and narratives within the “Star Wars” universe. Its timeline is set approximately five years after the events of “Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker,” which concluded the Skywalker saga and currently marks the latest chronological entry in the “Star Wars” film series.

Goth’s upcoming projects include Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” where she’ll appear alongside Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaac. She also features in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson. Her previous filmography boasts diverse roles in “Emma,” “Infinity Pool,” and Ti West’s acclaimed “X,” “Pearl,” and “Maxxxine” film series.

“Star Wars: Starfighter” represents Shawn Levy’s next directorial endeavor following the massive success of Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine.” That buddy comedy blockbuster, released in July 2024, garnered an impressive $1.3 billion at the global box office, securing its place as the highest-grossing R-rated feature of all time.

The screenplay for “Star Wars: Starfighter” was penned by Jonathan Tropper. Tropper has a history of collaboration with Levy, having previously written for his films “The Adam Project” and “This Is Where I Leave You.” He is also recognized as the creator of the Apple TV+ series “Your Friends & Neighbors.”
