WATWING, the popular Japanese boyband, celebrated a major milestone by holding their first solo concert titled WATWING LIVE TOUR 2024 – Get Em Back – at Makuhari Messe on November 9 and 10, an iconic venue just outside Tokyo in Chiba. This event marks a highlight in their journey as the first boyband from the Japanese talent agency Horipro, featuring six talented members: Ryo Furuhata, Asahi Suzuki, Fu Takahashi, Rintaro Hachimura, Ryuta Kuwayama, and Noa Fukuzawa Nozomi, all winners of the Star Boys Audition.
Now celebrating their fifth anniversary, WATWING started 2024 with a sold-out concert at Tokyo’s legendary Nippon Budokan in February. Following this, they embarked on their first nationwide hall tour across seven cities in Japan, beginning in Saitama in August. The success of Get Em Back has underscored WATWING’s immense popularity across the country.
During the final concert at Makuhari Messe, the group revealed exciting news: they’re moving to a new label, +WHAX (pronounced “Plus Wax”), where they plan to release a new digital single this winter and an EP in the spring of 2024. To mark this transition, they unveiled a fresh group photo, symbolizing a new era for the band.
Formed in June 2019, WATWING represents Horipro’s first venture into the boyband genre, combining the creative talents of six young stars. The group’s name blends “WAT” (a playful take on “what”) and “WING,” symbolizing their goal to stay true to themselves and soar confidently regardless of others’ opinions.
