1. Batman (1989)
Batman (1989) had some of the most famous actors at the time, Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. But what you didn’t know is the movie featured one of the most incredible sets of all time. Batman was shot at Pinewood Studios in England from October 10, 1988, to February 14, 1989. That is 80 days of main shooting and 86 days of second unit shooting. The film had a total of 18 sound stages being used, with 7 stages occupied, including the incredible, 51-acre backlot for the Gotham City set. The set was the largest set built since the 1963 film Cleopatra.
2. Back To The Future series (1985 – 1990)
The films, starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd feature The Courthouse Square from the Universal Studios Lot in Universal City, California throughout the series as Downtown Hill Valley. The set is comprised of numerous facades that form an archetypal American town square. Of course, with a courthouse as its centerpiece. Prior to the Back to the Future series, the area was known as Mockingbird Square. Being featured in the 1962 film To Kill a Mockingbird. Unfortunately, it has been severely damaged by fire 3 separate times but was reconstructed after each incident.
3. The Goonies (1985)
One of the most beautiful pieces of construction is in this movie, and it is called “The Inferno”. Construction took two and a half months for the famous ship. The ship measures 105 feet, with the largest sail on the ship measuring a total of thirty feet by sixty feet. Besides the film, the ship was used as a set for the music video “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough” by Cyndi Lauper. Unfortunately, the ship was destroyed after the movie was filmed, but we know it as one of the most beautiful ships ever created.
