This year, Maho Rasop returns with a thrilling weekend of music featuring over 20 artists. Among the highlights are ADOY, a popular indie pop group from South Korea, and The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band, famed for their European tours and Glastonbury Festival performances. For those who love 2010s lo-fi indie, Real Estate is back, joined by Russian post-punk outfit Motorama, Japanese psychedelic rock icon Shintaro Sakamoto, and Hitsujibungaku, a shoegaze band beloved by anime fans, who sold out their last show in Bangkok.
If some names on the list are unfamiliar, don’t worryโweโre here to introduce you to these emerging bands with diverse styles. Experience the energy of LA’s all-girl post-punk trio Automatic, the soulful post-industrial punk of Birmingham’s BIG SPECIAL, the frenetic krautrock of China’s FAZI, and the much-anticipated South Korean alternative synth-rock band Silica Gel. For a more mellow vibe, relax to the dream pop and slowcore sounds of Bubble Tea and Cigarettes, or explore New Age spiritual jazz with John Carroll Kirby, known for his collaborations with Norah Jones, Solange, Harry Styles, Steve Lacy, and more. Get ready to dance to upbeat indie pop from Hippo Campus, Indonesia’s Grrrl Gang, and Singapore’s Subsonic Eye, all bringing fresh sounds from the Southeast Asian alternative scene. Finally, wind down with the soothing tunes of RICEWINE, who previously performed alongside Phum Viphurit.
Let’s not forget the incredible Thai artists making waves internationally. YONLAPA, the alternative indie rock band from Chiang Mai, has gained significant recognition from Japanese audiences. Rising star Flower.far captivated listeners with her standout COLORS performance. Venn, the alternative folk rock band, made a surprising debut at Maho Rasop Experience #1, while LEPYUTIN offers a deep dive into neo-psychedelic music. Experimental electronic rock band JPBS transforms their live shows into immersive ritualistic experiences.
For fans of electronic music, the festival will also feature techno and EBM from Identified Patient of the Netherlands, and Osakaโs bass maestro ryota, who recently made his international debut at Boiler Room and sold out a club show in Bangkok. Kova Oโ Sarin, Bangkokโs underground music secret, also joins the lineup, known for his powerful yet subtle storytelling on the dancefloor.
