Los Akiyama is stepping into the spotlight with his first solo PPop single, “Buti Na Lang,” released today along with a captivating music video.
The track “Buti Na Lang” is a gem crafted by Jason Dedal and arranged by Brian Lotho, with production handled by Insight 360 Music, the brainchild of award-winning public relations expert and filmmaker Chris Cahilig.
“I can’t wait for you all to hear ‘Buti Na Lang’! We poured our hearts into the song and music video, aiming to make a splash in the PPop scene,” Los Akiyama shares. “I hope it strikes a chord with Filipino listeners.”

The song’s theme of embracing new opportunities and finding love mirrors Los’ own life journey. He nearly returned to a corporate career but chose to chase his dreams in the entertainment world instead.
For the music video, Los teamed up with student director Dizelle C. Masilungan, whom he worked with on the film Kung Nag-aatubli. The creative team also includes assistant director and colorist Denver Kyle Pangilinan, director of photography and editor Anton Stefano Acosta, production designer Veronica Caridad, line producer Dang Calumba, and production assistants Tatjana Deocareza and Marian Jayce Tiongzon.
Los Akiyama, the Actor
Los made waves in Philippine cinema with his standout role in the short film Kung Nag-aatubli, earning him the Best Supporting Actor award at the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival 2024. Reflecting on his win, he says, “It felt like a moment of validation. Maybe there’s a place for me in this industry.”
Born in Quezon City and raised in San Pablo City, Laguna, Los’ story is all about family. He reminisces, “[Our family] doesn’t know what a reunion is, because of how often we see each other.”
Though he has Japanese roots, Los has yet to visit Japan but looks forward to exploring his heritage. The youngest of five, Los credits his success to his supportive family, especially his mom, who encouraged his passions.

A Cum Laude graduate in Management Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University, Los balanced his rigorous academic life with a love for performing arts, from high school Glee Club to university theater and acting.
His interests are as varied as his talents, ranging from volleyball and swimming to cooking, woodworking, and metalworking. “I love traveling and diving into new topics,” he adds.
Los believes his openness to new experiences is his greatest strength. “You [need to] be persistent with what you do,” he notes.

Looking ahead, Los aims to diversify his roles, work on feature films, and hone his artistic skills, including music. Long-term, he dreams of becoming a leading actor, directing his own films, and creating impactful work that resonates with audiences and contributes to Philippine cinema.
To aspiring entertainers, Los advises, “Just put yourself out there. In today’s world, there are countless ways to create, share your talent, and connect with people who need what you’re offering.”
He emphasizes the importance of authenticity. “Know yourself, and keep discovering who you are through what you do. That insatiable curiosity leads to growth that no one can take from you.”
