Get ready, Southeast Asia! The legendary British alternative rock band Ride is finally making its highly-anticipated debut in Thailand! Known for their pioneering role in the shoegaze music scene, this iconic band is set to deliver an unforgettable night of classic hits and new tracks. Join us at #HYHBKK Live! with Ride on August 5th at Search Studio, Ramkhamhaeng 81.

Formed in 1988 in Oxford, Ride features the phenomenal guitar skills of Andy Bell and Loz Colbert, with Mark Gardener on drums and Steve Queralt on bass. Their early albums, ‘Nowhere’ (1990) and ‘Going Blank Again’ (1992), gave us timeless tracks like “Vapour Trail”, “Seagull”, and “Leave Them All Behind”. These albums are celebrated for their raw, guitar-driven sound and subtly melodic arrangements, infused with dreamlike, psychedelic rock vibes that earned them critical acclaim and a place as seminal works in the shoegaze genre.

Despite their early success, Ride faced challenges. Their second and third albums were hits, with ‘Carnival of Light’ (1994) reaching fifth on the UK Albums Chart. However, their fourth album, ‘Tarantula’ (1996), didn’t fare as well, leading to their breakup. Andy Bell later joined Oasis as their bassist in 1999. Even without new releases, Ride’s influence grew, inspiring new generations of post-shoegaze fans. Their 2014 reunion announcement thrilled fans worldwide.

After a 21-year hiatus, Ride returned with ‘Weather Diaries’ (2017), blending their classic style with fresh electronic elements. They continued their creative streak with ‘This Is Not a Safe Place’ in 2019 and their latest album ‘Interplay’, released this March. ‘Interplay’ captures the classic Ride sound with energetic guitars, ethereal melodies, and captivating rhythms while also drawing inspiration from 80s pop icons like Tears For Fears, Talk Talk, and early U2. It’s a treat for both long-time fans and new listeners alike.

This momentous occasion marks Ride’s highly anticipated reunion, surpassing their active era in the 90s. It’s a rare opportunity for Thai music lovers to experience their full-bodied musical brilliance live. Don’t miss out on this incredible event at #HYHBKK Live! with Ride on August 5th at Search Studio, Ramkhamhaeng 81!
