The “Dancing in Babylon” video, directed by MGMT’s longtime collaborator Ray Tintori, features iconic figures such as John Cameron Mitchell and British actor Julian Morris. Chris expressed excitement about collaborating with MGMT, praising their talent and expressing gratitude for being part of the project.
MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser described the creation of the video as a complex yet rewarding process, likening it to crafting a cosmic mille-feuille sandwich.
“Dancing in Babylon” is part of “Loss Of Life,” the highly anticipated follow-up to 2018’s “Little Dark Age.” Produced by MGMT and Patrick Wimberly, with mixing by Dave Fridmann, the album also features additional production by Daniel Lopatin, James Richardson, and Brian Burton.
The band has previously released videos for album tracks “Mother Nature,” “Bubblegum Dog,” and “Nothing to Declare,” with more visual exploration of the album’s themes planned for the future.
In addition to the album release, MGMT is hosting listening parties in partnership with Pitchblack Playback in various locations, including London, New York, Sydney, and Los Angeles. These events offer fans an opportunity to experience the album in full prior to its public release, with proceeds going to The Loveland Foundation. Those unable to attend in person can join a global livestream event exclusively on VEEPS.
