Netflix Series Forecasting Love and Weather, which stars Park Min Young and Song Kang and is set in the Korea Meteorological Administration, is one of the most anticipated K-dramas that premiered on Netflix on February 12th. With only a few days until the series’ frigid opener, a press conference for Forecasting Love and Weather was conducted to give fans a sneak peek at what to expect. Is love as unpredictably unpredictable as the weather? Here are reasons why you should watch the Korean drama:

A Delightful Combination of Cast, Director, and Writer

Park Min Young, known for her roles in films such as When the Weather Is Fine, Her Private Life, and What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, is back in her element in the office romance genre. Forecasting Love and Weather will show Park Min Young in a more professional and charismatic light, which will be fascinating to see as she transitions into this new role.

Song Kang, a beloved actor, will reveal some of his mixed attractive features in Forecasting Love and Weather, ranging from a young amorous guy to a professional with the brains to accurately predict the weather. After Love Alarm, Sweet Home, and Nevetheless, it’s also exciting to see Song Kang return to Netflix.

These two significant actors were able to slide right into their parts thanks to the directing of none other than Director Cha Young-Hun, who developed the smash drama When the Camellia Blooms, which received the grand award in TV at the 2020 Baeksang Arts Award.

โ€œIn terms of casting one of the most crucial factors I consider is how the actors portray the characters in the most energetic way. For example, Park Min Young’s portrayal of Ha Kyeong is very emotional, smart, but possesses the actorโ€™s innate loveliness at the same time. Song Kang was really in sync with his character, with his pure and healthy energy, added with the characterโ€™s professional attitude toward his work,โ€ Director Cha Young-Hun said during the press conference.

Director Cha Young Hun’s approach in Forecasting Love and Weather brings warmth and texture to the screen, has a lot of promise. Sun Young wrote the screenplay, while Kang Eunkyung, a well-known writer whose previous works include The World of the Married, Misty, and My Horrible Boss.

Romance in a New Setting

Sure, there have been a few ‘return to the Hanbok-wearing-dynasty’ period dramas and hospital dramas, but we’ve never seen love clash, dissipate, and then resurface in the setting of a Weather Forecasting center. The unpredictable weather, which can change the direction of the wind with even a 1% chance, makes it much more difficult for the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) to forecast, often resulting in unwelcome grudges from civilians who didn’t follow the weather forecast and didn’t bring an umbrella. Director Cha Young-Hun commented, โ€œThis was the first time to have a Meteorological Administration as the setting, so I imagine it must have been a challenge for the actors. For example, expressing the unfamiliar yet specialized terminology in the most professional way needs a lot of practice and focus.โ€

Forecasting Love and Weather depicts folks who work around the clock to help us predict the weather for tomorrow. On some days, they are ecstatic that they have finally gotten it perfect. Some days they feel bad about getting everything wrong. They know one thing as a result of this never-ending loop of anticipating the unpredictable weather: there is no such thing as a 100 percent possibility of certainty in life. Instead, life is a series of decisions to be made, even if the answer we seek is for something we vowed we’d never do โ€” workplace romance.

The Danger of Mixing the Office Pen in the Office Ink is a relatable office drama.

Love is as unpredictable as the weather, and it’s a difficult one for even those who work at KMA, where they spend their days predicting the unforeseeable. The series depicts Jin Ha Kyung, a Chief Forecasters Division employee, and her ten-year office affair with Han Ki Jun, an Office of Spokesperson employee, which culminates in a horrible massacre. The aftermath of the love storm is terrible, as the word reaches the whole KMA personnel, both those who work in the office and those who work in the hallway. Until Lee Si-woo, a youthful newcomer at KMA with a thunderous love for weather sits in front of her, Ha-kyung resolves to never dip her workplace pen in the office ink.
Is this the start of a new office romance she promised she’d avoid?
