Be it singing, dancing, acting, or whatever talent in the arts he may also possess, Edgar Allan Guzman, or EA Guzman, can deliver.
What started as a grand championship in Eat Bulaga’s Mr. Pogi would grow into a stable career for EA. He would star in several indie and mainstream films as lead and support, with Cinemalaya’s Ligo na Ü, Lapit na Me being one of the memorable ones, as EA bagged his first acting award as the lead actor. He also won MMFF 2017’s Best Supporting Actor for Deadma Walking.
With such potential at hand, it’s quite bewilderment as to why EA has been changing courses over the years. Right after his stint in APT and GMA, he moved to TV5 in 2010, and in 2014 to the Kapamilya network. After making waves in ABS-CBN’s Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 1, I expected him to be an A-lister, but sadly, in 2017, he moved once again to GMA.
Given that GMA has only a few leading men compared to ABS-CBN, I’m also not satisfied with the fact that they only give supporting roles for EA. I hope that in time, GMA would give him a truly-deserved lead role for himself. I guess we have to wait it out.
In recent months, however, EA has a lot to be thankful for in his life. Aside from his never-ending projects in GMA, he is now hailed as the Prince of Indie Cinema, which he truly deserved. Apart from that, EA will star in a lead role opposite Coleen Garcia in Mia under Insight 360 Films, which is coming to cinemas on January 15
I’m excited for EA Guzman this year. I hope all his acting and musical endeavors come true for the rest of his career. We also wish that he would no longer be an underrated chameleon.
