The AKB48 Group has introduced its talent to the United States with the debut of Filipino superstars SHEKI and BABY BLUE, both hailing from the immensely popular Filipino girl group, MNL48.

SHEKI, whose full name is Shekinah Azarga, marks the first solo debut from AKB48, renowned as Japan’s highest-selling pop group and the fifth-best-selling girl group worldwide. Notably, she holds the coveted title of being the No. 1 vocalist among the AKB48 groups. The management of these two exceptional acts falls under the capable hands of Shohei Watanabe and Japan’s Superball, and they are represented in the U.S by TKO.

SHEKI, a talented singer-songwriter, has played a pivotal role as a lead vocalist in MNL48 based in Manila, Philippines, since 2018. This sister affiliate of AKB48, an all-female “idol” collective rooted in theater, takes its name from Tokyo’s Akihabara area, where the group’s theater is situated. AKB48 holds the distinction of being the world’s largest pop group, as certified by Guinness World Records.

SHEKI’s prowess is widely acknowledged by fans and the industry alike, with many considering her the most skilled and talented member among all the AKB48 groups. These groups are divided into teams scattered across 12 locations in Asia, and Sheki proudly represents the Manila, Philippines-based MNL48. BABY BLUE emerges as a captivating sub-unit within the Filipino idol ensemble MNL48, comprised of three exceptionally talented members: Coleen, Amy, and Frances. Their journey began in September 2020 when they made their debut with the hit single “Sweet Talking Sugar,” a track that soared to the summit of the Tower Records Japan ‘Eggs Music’ chart.

This dynamic trio brings a fusion of musical styles to the table, seamlessly blending RnB, City Pop, and Street Vibe elements, all embellished with English lyrics. Their versatility and unique sound have resonated with audiences, propelling them to new heights. In February 2022, BABY BLUE unveiled their fourth single, “Head Up,” along with their inaugural album, which marked a significant milestone for them in both the Philippines and Japan.
