Bec Sandridge releases her five-track EP, Lost Dog, navigating her own brand of opulent indie-pop. It includes the song “Cost Of Love” and her most recent single, the synth-driven “The Jetty,” which features Andy Bull. Bec collaborated on the new EP with some of her closest friends, presenting an electrifying sound union of songwriters and musicians.
“I’m incredibly thrilled with how these songs have turned out, and I have been fortunate enough to work with a lot of my favourite people on these songs, people that have true insight into my sonic brain. Dave Jenkins Jr, Lucy Taylor, Andy Bull, Geoff Swan, Japanese Wallpaper, Rosie Fitzgerald, Dorny Mayes, Tony Buchen – such a dream team!” Bec Sandridge
The new EP exhibits Sandridge’s fascination with rough yet polished production palettes and highlights her all-around lyrical ability. Her sharp pop sensibility and wide-ranging vocal range completely engross the listener. Intimate, dark, and intriguing, the new song “Easy To Go Bad” offers a window into the current creative environment Sandridge is in.
“This one’s about the trick of nostalgia. It’s far too easy to go back to something that feels like home… Nonetheless, this is potentially my favourite on the EP. For me, it embodies that disgusting feeling of being trapped in a stuffy-car, all day, with a stomach ache.”
Her new EP, which Lachlan Carrick masterfully transitioned from experimental electro landscapes to indie guitar song (Doja Cat, Gotye, Gretta Ray).
“I was a bit of a lost dog, myself and I also lost my dog. This EP is a snapshot of that time. The goal was to take time and write my best songs to date… On my debut record, I felt that I hadn’t gone as far as I could in terms of angularity and the whole gloss-pop thing. I wanted to really sit in that pocket… To me, this lot of songs feels like driving into a sunset, no sunglasses, with an ache in the pit of your stomach (potentially a hangover): it’s sickeningly beautiful, temporarily blinding and also, signifying the end of a big ol’ chapter. “ – Bec Sandridge
The singles “Animal,” “I’ll Never Want A BF,” “Eyes Wide,” and “Stranger” from Bec Sandridge’s debut album, “TRY + SAVE ME,” which was released in 2019, placed second in the Unsigned Category of the International Songwriting Competition, which was judged by Tom Waits, Dua Lipa, and Chris Martin. The Sydney Opera House’s upcoming production of “Ishmael,” which had its Brisbane Festival debut at QPAC last year, had Sandridge’s music produced for it.
Bec has played at several events, including Fall Festival, Groovin’ The Moo, The Plot, and Festival of The Sun. She has previously supported artists including Naked and Famous, Yungblud, The Rubens, Cub Sport, and Montaigne. She recently finished a lucrative UK and Europe in September.
