The most terrifying shift of their lives begins with a broken seal. StudioCanal has unleashed the first trailer for Cold Storage, a high-stakes sci-fi thriller that pits Joe Keery (Stranger Things) and Georgina Campbell (Barbarian) against a government-contained, brain-exploding fungus that’s just broken free in the depths of a self-storage facility. When a routine night at work turns into a desperate fight for survival, the unlikely duo teams up with a grizzled bioterror operative (Liam Neeson) to stop an outbreak that could wipe out humanity.

Directed by Jonny Campbell (Dracula) and penned by David Koepp (Jurassic Park), adapting his own novel, Cold Storage blends body horror, claustrophobic tension, and dark humor as Keery’s slacker employee Teacake and Campbell’s no-nonsense Naomi realize their workplace sits atop a decommissioned military base—one that was never meant to be reopened. As the temperature plummets and the fungus spreads, its victims undergo grotesque transformations, their minds hijacked before their bodies erupt in visceral, The Last of Us-style horror.

The stacked cast—including Sosie Bacon (Smile), Vanessa Redgrave, and Lesley Manville—faces off against a villain unlike any other: an unstoppable, intelligence-evolving organism that thrives in the cold. Neeson, no stranger to playing hardened operatives (Taken, The Naked Gun), brings his signature gravitas as the only man who understands the true scale of the threat.

Produced by Gavin Polone (Zombieland, Panic Room), Cold Storage promises pulse-pounding set pieces—think The Thing meets 28 Days Later—as the survivors navigate the facility’s labyrinthine corridors, dodging infected humans and creatures warped beyond recognition. With Koepp’s knack for balancing suspense and wit (see: Jurassic Park, Spider-Man), the film could be 2025’s sleeper sci-fi hit.

Samuel Goldwyn Films will release Cold Storage theatrically next year, continuing their streak of genre standouts (In the Land of Saints and Sinners, The Count of Monte Cristo).

Cold Storage stars Joe Keery, Georgina Campbell, Liam Neeson, Sosie Bacon, Vanessa Redgrave, and Lesley Manville. Directed by Jonny Campbell, written by David Koepp, and produced by Gavin Polone. Coming soon.

“The coldest storage holds the hottest threats.”
