The beloved yellow sponge is making a splash on the big screen once again! Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies have unveiled the teaser trailer for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, sending fans into a frenzy ahead of its January 21, 2026 theatrical release in the Philippines.
A Swashbuckling New Adventure
In this high-seas escapade, SpongeBob sets out to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs by embarking on a daring quest with none other than The Flying Dutchman, the mischievous ghost pirate. The film promises a hilarious, action-packed journey into uncharted waters, where SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom pals—Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, and the rest of the gang—face their wildest challenges yet.
The newly released teaser trailer teases epic underwater chases, ghostly encounters, and SpongeBob’s signature brand of chaotic optimism. Meanwhile, the official posters showcase SpongeBob in full pirate mode, hinting at a nautical adventure unlike any before.
Star-Studded Voice Cast & Creative Team
Returning voice actors include Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), and the rest of the original gang, alongside new additions like Mark Hamill, Regina Hall, Ice Spice, and George Lopez in undisclosed roles.
Directed by Derek Drymon (a SpongeBob veteran) and written by Pam Brady (who co-wrote The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water), the film stays true to the series’ zany humor while expanding its world into uncharted territory.

Since its debut in 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has remained a cultural phenomenon, spawning multiple films, spin-offs, and even a Broadway musical. Search for SquarePants marks the franchise’s fourth theatrical outing, following the success of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2020).
With its mix of classic SpongeBob absurdity and fresh, high-stakes adventure, this film is poised to be a must-see for longtime fans and a new generation alike.
