Sarah Jessica Parker is taking a deliberate approach to political discourse—and that means staying largely silent on social media. During an appearance on The Best People podcast, the Sex and the City star explained why she avoids sharing her political views online, arguing that platforms like Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) aren’t conducive to meaningful debate.

“I don’t think [social media] is a place that’s deserving of any real complicated conversation,” Parker said. “I’m not interested in quick little snippets when it’s dealing with conflict or even elections sometimes.” She expressed concern that nuanced political opinions often get reduced to soundbites or misinterpreted, adding, “It turns into fodder. You have no control over it.”

The actress, who has faced pressure from fans to “be vocal” online, pointed out that political engagement existed long before the rise of social platforms. “FDR was elected without social media,” she noted, emphasizing that activism and civic participation don’t require viral posts. Instead, Parker prefers to engage with issues privately, whether through donations, in-person organizing, or informed discussions—areas where she feels she can make a real impact without the noise of online discourse.

“I’m not going to talk about stuff that I don’t feel educated on,” she said. “I just feel like I want to be helpful. I don’t want to hurt something that matters to me.”

Parker’s stance reflects a growing skepticism toward performative activism, particularly among celebrities whose political posts often face intense scrutiny. While some stars use their platforms to rally supporters, Parker’s approach suggests a belief that change happens beyond the comments section—even if it means staying quiet where others might shout.
