Production has commenced on the long-awaited The Devil Wears Prada 2, with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci officially reprising their iconic roles. Disney’s 20th Century Studios confirmed the news via Instagram with a teasing image of signature devil-red stilettos, alongside the revelation that Kenneth Branagh joins the cast as the husband of Streep’s formidable Runway editor Miranda Priestly.
The sequel reportedly centers on Miranda navigating the collapse of print media, facing a fierce new adversary: Blunt’s former assistant Emily Charlton, now a luxury group executive controlling vital advertising revenue. While Hathaway’s Andy Sachs returns, her role remains undisclosed following her newspaper career shift in the original. Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna reunite for the project.
Timed with real-world parallels, the announcement follows Anna Wintour‘s departure from Vogue after 37 years. The original film—adapted from Lauren Weisberger‘s 2004 roman à clef about her Vogue experiences—became a $326M-grossing cultural phenomenon.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 struts into theaters on May 1, 2026.
