Netflix has launched a major update for its hit mobile game Squid Game: Unleashed, timed with Friday’s premiere of the third and final season of the global phenomenon series. Developed by Boss Fight Entertainment and Netflix Game Studio, this 32-player party royale experience now integrates iconic challenges from Season 3 alongside fan-favorite characters and innovative social features – as highlighted in Variety’s gaming coverage.

The update introduces terrifying new games mirroring the show’s lethal twists: “Hide and Seek” reimagines the childhood classic with deadly stakes, while “Sky Squid Game” offers a vertigo-inducing aerial homage to the original challenges. Players can also revisit brutal Season 1 trials like “Marbles” and confront Season 3’s “Jump Rope” challenge. Five new playable characters deepen the lore, including Hwang Jun-ho (the police officer investigating the games), disgraced crypto influencer Lee Myung-gi (Player 333), debt-ridden Kim Jun-hee (Player 222), former soldier Kang No-eul searching for her child, and prophetic shaman Seon-nyeo (Player 044), each with unique abilities and backstories.

Netflix leverages its platform synergy through “Play Along” – an evolution of last season’s “Watch Along” – where viewers automatically earn in-game rewards simply by streaming Season 3. Community-driven objectives unlock collective rewards and mini-games when players collaborate. Enhanced social tools now enable real-time strategy via in-game chat, while competitive crews can track progress on new leaderboards.

Coinciding with the update, Netflix confirmed Squid Game: Unleashed’s expansion to Chromebooks and large-screen Android devices “in coming weeks.” Google emphasized optimized gameplay: “Immersive experiences on bigger screens with keyboard/mouse support, updated controls, and display-enhanced graphics.” Game director Bill Jackson noted: “Chromebooks transform the chaos – the bigger canvas makes every round more memorable.”
