Following their breakout hit Talk to Me, Australian filmmaker duo Danny and Michael Philippou are back with another terrifying tale—Bring Her Back—set to haunt Philippine cinemas starting July 16.

The brothers, known for their emotionally charged horror storytelling, emphasize that fear alone isn’t enough. “We want our films to work on multiple levels,” says Michael. “Whether it’s horror or any genre, the emotional core has to be strong.” Danny adds, “We don’t shy away from horror—we embrace it and take pride in it.”

Bring Her Back follows siblings Andy (Billy Barratt) and Piper (Sora Wong), a low-vision teenager, as they adjust to life with a new foster mother in a secluded home. What begins as a fresh start soon unravels into a nightmare when they uncover a horrifying ritual.

The film’s inspiration came from a personal place. “Our friend’s little sister is non-sighted,” Danny explains. “She wanted independence—to catch the bus alone—but her family was protective. That tension stuck with us.” That real-life struggle translates into Piper’s character, whose resilience is tested when tragedy strikes, plunging her and Andy into unspeakable terror.

While Talk to Me thrived on frenetic energy, Bring Her Back takes a more intimate approach. “This is a contained, character-driven story,” says Danny. “It’s about these three people, their relationships, and the horrors that emerge from them.”

Prepare for a chilling exploration of family, fear, and survival when Bring Her Back arrives in theaters.
