Get ready for some fourth-wall-breaking action in virtual reality! A brand-new VR game based on Marvel’s “Deadpool” franchise is coming to Meta Quest later this year, with none other than Neil Patrick Harris lending his voice to the Merc with a Mouth.

Developed by Twisted Pixel and Oculus Studios, in close collaboration with Marvel Games, “Marvel’s Deadpool VR” will immerse players in an all-new story centered around the beloved MCU character, famously portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in the blockbuster R-rated film series.

According to the game’s official description, “After an unexpected trip through a portal to Mojoworld, Deadpool spots a golden opportunity for serious cash. He impulsively signs a questionable contract, skipping all the fine print, before embarking on a wild tour across various Marvel Universe locations, facing off against both iconic and less-than-iconic villains. It’s a true metaverse experience – in the Marvel sense, not the virtual reality one.”

The game’s developers are touting an unparalleled level of player freedom, asserting that “if you can imagine it, you can probably do it” in “Marvel’s Deadpool VR.” They encourage players to go beyond simple stabs and gunshots. Want to punch an enemy while clutching a grenade? Check. Hurl your freshly-severed arm at adversaries? Gross, but absolutely. Hold a foe’s face into a spinning propeller? Bloody, yet efficient. Soldiers, demonic canines, peculiar humanoid lizards, and creepy worm-like creatures are all awaiting creatively (and perhaps sadistically) satisfying dismemberment.

The trailer for “Marvel’s Deadpool VR,” unveiled on Friday at Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, is available for viewing below.
