July 12th, 2024 – Fresh off the RADWIMPS WORLD TOUR 2024 “The way you yawn, and the outcry of Peace,” singer-songwriter and RADWIMPS frontman Yojiro Noda is excited to announce the release of his new song “LAST LOVE LETTER” from his upcoming solo album ‘WONDER BOY’S AKUMU CLUB,’ set to drop on September 25. Listen here.
This album is a deeply personal collection, featuring 13 tracks that reflect Noda’s own story. It includes “EVERGREEN feat. kZm,” which dropped this April and features acclaimed Japanese rapper kZm, as well as “KATATOKI,” a collaboration with American rapper J.I.D featured in the game “Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name”.
Noda shares, “This is my first album as Yojiro Noda. I joined RADWIMPS at 15, and while the band remains my core, I wondered what it would be like to play around freely with sound in a way I can only do now. Over the past two years, I created music whenever I found time, experimenting and ultimately crafting these 13 songs. The process was fun, despite the struggles and moments of near-giving up. I wasn’t trying to write good songs, but I believe I made a great album. I want to thank Kuwahara and Takeda, who participated in a few tracks, and HOLLY for inspiring me to start this album.”
As part of this exciting release, the Limited Edition CD comes with a T-shirt featuring the original character “AKUMU-KUN,” created by manga artist and illustrator Posuka Demizu. This character, born from Noda’s idea to symbolize his solo project, came to life through numerous exchanges of ideas between Demizu and Noda, resulting in “AKUMU-KUN,” a universal and invincible character modeled after Noda. The Vinyl edition of the album and a worldwide digital release are also set for September 25, with more information coming soon.
