Texas indie-pop/rock outfit Voxtrot is back with their latest single, “My Peace,” marking their third release since reuniting. The track exudes a soulful, dynamic energy, delivering a self-affirming message wrapped in wistful folk influences reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel, melodic swings akin to Belle & Sebastian, and the charming vibes of The Smiths. Complete with festive horns reminiscent of Bobby Keys-era Rolling Stones and a touch of Spanish-style guitar, “My Peace” is a captivating romp that bridges classic Voxtrot with a fresh perspective for a new era.
Following in the footsteps of their previous singles, “Another Fire” and “New World Romance,” “My Peace” showcases the band’s ability to infuse their trademark energy and hooks into contemporary sounds.
Voxtrot initially gained widespread acclaim during the early 2000s blog era, propelled by the success of their EPs “Raised By Wolves” and “Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives,” released on their own Cult Hero Records label. Despite their rapid rise, the band disbanded in 2010, leaving a growing legacy that continued attracting new fans long after they departed from the music scene.
However, spurred by a surge of love and support from fans old and new, frontman Ramesh Srivastava had a revelation that reignited the band’s flame. Encouraged by the enduring enthusiasm for their music, Voxtrot reunited, embarking on a successful US tour and releasing archival compilations of their early work.
In 2023, all five original members regrouped in Lockhart, Texas, to explore new creative territory and see if the magic was still alive. Their DIY ethos led them to self-record and produce a series of new tracks, including the infectious singles “Another Fire,” “New World Romance,” and now, “My Peace.”
With their distinct blend of indie-pop and rock sensibilities, Voxtrot continues to captivate audiences with their timeless sound and unwavering passion for music.
