Sony Pictures Confirms Mia Mckenna-Bruce, Saoirse Ronan, Ana Sawai, and Aimee Lou Wood for Sam Mendes’ The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event

BAFTA winner Mia McKenna-Bruce, Four-time Academy Award Nominee and Golden Globe Award winner Saoirse Ronan, Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning Anna Sawai, and Emmy Award nominee and BAFTA TV winner Aimee Lou Wood will lead the cast of Sony Pictures, Sam Mendes, and Neal Streetโ€™s The Beatles โ€” A Four-Film Cinematic Event.

McKenna-Bruce will portray Maureen (Cox) Starkey, Ronan will play Linda (Eastman) McCartney, Sawai will star as Yoko Ono, and Wood will take the role of Pattie Boyd.

โ€œMaureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four extraordinary women in their own right – and I’m delighted that we’ve secured four of the most gifted actresses in contemporary cinema to embark on this incredible journey,โ€ Mendes stated.

Maureen Cox (Mia McKenna-Bruce) was among the band’s earliest supporters, meeting Ringo Starr at the Cavern Club in 1962. Their relationship progressed rapidly, leading to marriage in 1965 and the birth of three children.

Linda Eastman (Saoirse Ronan) was an accomplished photographer before encountering Paul McCartney in 1967. They felt an immediate connection, with McCartney later recalling, โ€˜I felt something the moment I saw herโ€™.

John Lennon initially encountered Japanese avant-garde artist Yoko Ono (Anna Sawai) at her London gallery show. Though Lennon was married, he was instantly captivated by Yoko, and they soon evolved into constant artistic collaborators throughout his life.

Pattie Boyd (Aimee Lou Wood) was a prominent model who met George Harrison in 1964 during the filming of the Beatles comedy โ€˜A Hard Dayโ€™s Nightโ€™. They started a courtship that led to marriage, with Boyd embracing Harrison’s deepening fascination with Eastern spirituality.

Casting reveals for actors playing Cynthia Lennon, Brian Epstein, George Martin, Ravi Shankar and other pivotal figures will follow.

Featuring Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan, Paul Mescal and Joseph Quinn, the project represents the first occasion Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles โ€“ John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr โ€“ have awarded complete life story and music rights for a narrative film. Mendes envisioned four theatrical featuresโ€”each presenting an individual member’s perspectiveโ€”that will intertwine to relate the incredible tale of the most legendary band ever.

The Beatlesโ€”A Four-Film Cinematic Event is a Neal Street production in collaboration with Apple Corps for Sony Pictures. Mendes produces with his Neal Street collaborator Pippa Harris and Neal Streetโ€™s Julie Pastor. Alexandra Derbyshire is also producing.

Sony Pictures will provide funding and global distribution with complete theatrical exclusivity commencing April 2028.

Mia McKenna-Bruce rose to prominence with her breakthrough role in How to Have Sex which debuted at Cannes and secured the Un Certain Regard prize. Her performance earned her the BAFTA rising star award and the British Independent Film Award for best lead performance.

Saoirse Ronan is a distinguished actress recognized for her adaptability and work in celebrated films including Greta Gerwigโ€™s Little Women and Lady Bird, plus Atonement, and Brooklyn. Ronan earned a Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy for Lady Bird and is the second-youngest individual to achieve four Oscar nominations.

Anna Sawai is noted for her star-making role in Shogun, earning universal praise for her portrayal along with an Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama and a Golden Globe for best actress in a television drama series.

Aimee Lou Wood is recognized for her highly acclaimed performance in the third installment of The White Lotus, which brought an Emmy nomination for outstanding supporting actress in a drama, and her star-making part in Sex Education, which won her the BAFTA TV Award for best female comedy performance.
