Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 Announces Iconic Headliners St. Vincent and AIR

Music enthusiasts, mark your calendars for Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024, set to take place from November 22-24 at GBK Senayan. This year’s festival promises an unforgettable experience with a stellar lineup that just got even more exciting.

Joining the already impressive roster—including Bombay Bicycle Club, Blueboy, MONO, and Real Estate—are two groundbreaking headliners: St. Vincent and AIR.

St. Vincent, the innovative American artist renowned for her genre-defying work and electrifying guitar performances, will bring her acclaimed 2024 album All Born Screaming to the stage. Festival-goers can look forward to her performing hits like “Big Time Nothing,” “Flea,” and “Broken Man,” along with fan favorites such as “Pay Your Way in Pain,” “Digital Witness,” “Cheerleader,” and “New York.” “It’s a Joyland and personal milestone to bring St. Vincent to Joyland Festival Jakarta!” says Ferry Dermawan, Program Director of the festival. “We admire her delicate works and can’t wait to see her perform.”

AIR, the legendary French atmospheric pop duo, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their seminal album Moon Safari. Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel will perform classics like “La femme d’argent,” “Sexy Boy,” and “Kelly Watch the Stars,” alongside other highlights from their nearly three-decade career, including “Cherry Blossom Girl” and “Electronic Performers.”

The international lineup also features:

  • Bubble Tea and Cigarettes, a pop duo from Los Angeles.
  • DYGL, an indie rock band from Tokyo.
  • Silica Gel, a South Korean indie rock quartet.
  • Surprise Chef, an instrumental jazz-funk ensemble from Melbourne.

Indonesian acts include:

  • Efek Rumah Kaca, who will recreate their Konser Rimpang set.
  • Majelis Lidah Berduri, presenting a theatrical show from their upcoming album Hujan Orang Mati.
  • Hindia and Lomba Sihir, performing together as Pentas Sihir with a selection from their discographies.
  • Returning favorites such as Ali, Maliq & D’Essentials, The Adams, and The S.I.G.I.T..
  • BANK and Sigmun, making their Joyland Festival Jakarta debuts.

The festival’s Lily Pad Stage, curated by the beloved Jakarta indie pop sextet White Shoes & The Couples Company, will showcase emerging and experimental performers from Indonesia and beyond. Highlights include Teenage Death Star, The Panturas, The 5.6.7.8’s, South Korean veteran Park Daham, and Japanese DJs Masaya Fantasista and Mikey Varot.

In addition to the musical performances, Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 will feature:

  • The Shrooms Garden, with stand-up comedy curated by Soleh Solihun.
  • Joyland Village, supporting local food and market retailers.
  • White Peacock, a family-friendly area curated by Lintang Sunarta, offering a sensory play obstacle course, quiet area, kids’ merchandise store, record store, mini-orchestra, karaoke aerobics, and theater performances.
  • Cinerillaz, an outdoor cinema curated by acclaimed writer-director Joko Anwar, showcasing short films and promising to reveal the future talents of Indonesian cinema.

Leading up to the festival, several pre-events will generate excitement, including:

  • Cinerillaz Theater at Cipete Creative District in August, featuring ten short films previously shown at Joyland.
  • Joyland Collection, debuting festival merchandise created by special collaborators.
  • A chess tournament and cocktail collaboration launch party.
