The Toxic Avenger, a multi-award-winning French DJ and producer, released his latest EP, Carbone Toxique, on Enchanté Records on May 20th. Listeners will find the catchy song ‘87.6 percent’ on the EP. The EP is a fictitious OST for Mathieu Bablet’s award-winning Carbone & Silicium and Shangri-La Slipcase comics, for which he also designed the official artwork and visualizer. The comic earned the French national radio station FNAC/ France INter’s best comics award, and the EP’s vinyl edition sold out just three hours after its publication.

The Toxic Avenger has previously collaborated with a number of prominent names, including Skrillex, Chromeo, OrelSan, and Look Mum No Computer, as well as official remixes for Magic Sword and others. His previously released Shifted EP hit #4 on Bandcamp France’s Top Sales, with the vinyl copy selling out in a matter of hours and substantial rotation on Virgin Radio’s Electro Shock broadcast. The producer has composed for various video games (including Furi, The Crew, Watch Dogs, Need for Speed, the Rainbow Six European League, and more) and has had his music featured in movie trailers such as Fast & Furious V.

The Toxic Avenger was born in Paris and spent two years in L.A. before returning to France. He finds inspiration in the works of Daft Punk, Vladimir Cosma, Giorgio Moroder, and Ennio Morricone, as well as recent artists such as Everything But The Girl and Burial. His personal style has been compared to John Carpenter, Kavinsky, and Daft Punk, among others.

The Toxic Avenger’s latest EP provides a little something for every adventurer, stretching across the imagination and into new places. We’re exposed to an Eastern style before returning to the dancefloor, which starts slowly with ambient bits here and there. The closing tune, ‘87,6 percent,’ begins with dark and ethereal waves, illustrating the seriousness of the comic’s conclusion with electro bass tones.

The Toxic Avenger says: “I worked on this record as I would have worked on an Original Film Strip, as Mathieu Bablet’s Comic Strip is so cinematic. The heroes travel, so I tried to make the listener of this soundtrack travel. I composed the soundtrack for this adventure by transcribing as best I could Mathieu’s desires, and his vision of things. A vision, I believe, is both disembodied and ultimately teeming with life.”
