Multi-platinum selling superstar G-Eazy has released a new song called “Angel,” which he wrote for his mother, Suzanne Olmsted, on her first birthday since her death last Fall. Listen to the song here: https://geazy.lnk.to/Angel

G wrote the song with a small group of friends, with Devon Baldwin and Vida Simon providing backup vocals, as well as the same choir, headed by Tim Davis, that he utilized on his previous single “Faithful.”
G and Zac Brunson co-produced the song, which features Goody Grace on drums, guitar, and bass guitar.

G-Eazy says, “Grief can be a difficult thing to navigate. It’s definitely not a linear process and it comes at you in waves. There will never be enough words to describe the feeling of losing your best friend, or the desire to see them again. In a literal sense, I tried to capture that feeling of longing in the lyrics of the song.  But “Angel” is so much more than a song or a tribute. My mom was more than just my mom, she was everyone’s mom. She was everyone’s teacher. She was everyone’s inspiration. Nothing made her happier than loving people and sharing her creativity with the world. Her energy continues to live on through me, through those she connected with, and through those, she inspired. That’s part of why creating “The Dandelion Scholarship” is so important, her light will be able to continue to live on through countless others in so many ways.”

G has also established “The Dandelion Grant,” a yearly college scholarship in honor of his mother, to coincide with the release. The scholarship will be awarded $15,000 to one US college-bound high school senior pursuing an arts major each year through his charity, The Endless Summer Fund, and the beneficiary will be revealed on April 15th (his mother’s birthday). More information about this year’s winner, as well as how students can apply in the future, will be released soon.

G-Eazy, a multi-platinum recording artist and producer, has carved out a name for himself in the music and touring worlds. His third full-length studio album, The Beautiful & Damned (2017), debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and scored two No. 1 radio songs – “No Limit” ft. A$AP Rocky & Cardi B and “Him & I” ft. Halsey – and were certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. To date, “No Limit,” a 7x platinum single, has been streamed over 1 billion times throughout the world. When It’s Dark Out (2015), his platinum-certified sophomore album, contained the 5x platinum single “Me, Myself & I” with Bebe Rexha.

The Bay-area rapper has been on Saturday Night Live, MTV Video Music Awards, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and many other shows, and is known for his silky raps, impeccable production, and versatile range. He has been featured in publications such as GQ Italia, Rollacoaster, Numero NL, XXL, and Flaunt, and has won a People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Hip-Hop Artist.”

G-Eazy was also named one of Forbes’ “30 Under 30.” His influence extends to the fashion industry, where he’s been dubbed the “James Dean of rap” for his suave style and features on GQ’s best-dressed and grooming lists on a regular basis. He will also continue his association with PUMA, which just announced that their first joint shoe will be released in 2020. PUMA will also continue to support G-philanthropy, Eazy’s The Endless Summer Fund – a non-profit dedicated to helping Bay Area under-served youth reach their full potential while also strengthening the community – and their joint program, “From The Bay to the Universe,” in which G-Eazy selects a group of up-and-coming musicians and supports their artistic efforts.

G-Eazy surprised fans by releasing his critically acclaimed fourth studio album, These Things Happen Too, in 2021. These Things Happen Too is the follow-up to his debut album, These Things Happen, and it shows G’s progression since his blockbuster album in 2014. The 19-track album is G’s first full-length release since 2017’s critically acclaimed The Beautiful & Damned, and it exhibits his multi-faceted artistry with a wide, but eclectic body of work. The album’s genre-spanning tracklist contains hard-hitting hip-hop anthems like “Instructions” ft. YG, as well as tracks like “Breakdown” ft. Demi Lovato and “Faithful” ft. Marc E. Bassy leans towards the pop realm. After a successful year in 2021, 2022 is shaping up to be even more successful. Keep an eye out for the rapper’s next move.
